Podcast Feed Fixed
Posted on 24 February 2008 by Don
Sorry Gang! The Podcast feed should be back on-line. While is was a simple fix, the number of projects on the table for me is huge. Here’s the scoop. One of the things I was reminded of by my Podcasting Mentor Paul Colligan, is that you want to have your podcast media in a separate place from your blog. As technology guy, I completely understand this concept in fact it’s part of every project I help my customers implement. Ok, well Amazon Web Services is a unique offering of services. It’s pretty geeky, (is that a word?), but the concept is that you can have virtually any amount of space and bandwidth you need to support your podcasts. The power of Paul’s Podcast Secrets technique of separating your podcast content from your blog means that if 500 people all grab my podcast at the same time, my blog doesn’t come to a screeching halt. It means that everyone gets a quality download and online player experience. And just as important I don’t have to pay for bandwidth and storage that I’m not using. Amazon Web Services costs a fraction of what you will pay for a second dedicated Web host for you content. Plus you only pay for what you actually use. This makes a lot of sense for podcasters. Pay for what you use.. novel concept. Ok this service as I said is a bit geeky still. But it appears that a number of people are using the Amazon Web Services as a platform for building more user friendly applications. Latter next month, I will launch two (2) sites. http://www.5dollarblogs.com and http://5dollarpodcastblogs.com. Both of these sites will focus on giving people that don’t want to mess with their WordPress Blogs a place to host. I’ll be providing the engineering around making sure that WordPress blog is updated to deal with important security fixes and checking that supported plug-ins continue to work. Each account will have a cPanel Control Panel with a enough space for their blogs and users will have access to several gigabytes of storage and bandwidth all for $5.00 per month. A special tool that allow your podcasts or other media to be uploaded to our media hosting area will allow you to separate your media content from the blog. I’ve invested in some great template and will continue to support users that want to use the Semio Logic users package. If you use one of the supported template solutions $5 Podcast Blogs will being testing compatibility as WordPress continues to release updates. Ok, I’m long for this post… more to come latter.
